# Deposit

{% hint style="warning" %}
These docs are deprecated and may be outdated. Please use the new docs: [docs.ostium.com](https://docs.ostium.com/)

## Depositing

LPs can deposit USDC at any time into the Vault. USDC enters the vault immediately, but converts to OLP at the next daily settlement (within 0–24 hours), after which it begins earning. After settlement, OLP appears as 'pending redeem' — click Redeem to move OLP to your wallet. Deposits are cancelable at any time before settlement.

Prospective users may deposit through direct interaction with the protocol's smart contracts or through an existing user interface. The existing UI displays:

* The current conversion ratio between USDC and OLP
* The option to select an amount of USDC to deposit
* **You will receive (estimated):** The number of OLP tokens your USDC will convert to at the next daily settlement. The exact amount is determined at settlement time.

## Locking (Deprecated)

{% hint style="danger" %}
The locking feature with deposit discounts has been deprecated. New locked deposits are no longer available. Users who locked deposits before this change are grandfathered and can still unlock their existing locked deposits as described in the Withdraw page.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://ostium-labs.gitbook.io/ostium-docs/vault/deposit.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
